The AWS E410NiMo‑16 electrode is a specialized stick welding electrode made from martensitic stainless steel, perfect for welding both martensitic stainless castings and wrought materials. It’s also great for overlaying or surfacing moderate alloy steels. This electrode meets the AWS A5.4 / ASME SFA 5.4 standards and carries the UNS designation W41016. With its rutile‑titania coating, it works well for both AC and DC(+)/DCEP welding, ensuring a stable arc and versatility for all positions. For best results, it’s recommended to preheat and maintain controlled interpass temperatures of at least 150 °C, and to keep post-weld heat treatment below 620 °C to preserve its excellent properties.
When it comes to typical weld metal composition, you’ll find carbon at ≤ 0.06%, chromium between 11–12.5%, nickel at 4–5%, molybdenum from 0.4–0.7%, manganese at ≤ 1%, and silicon at ≤ 0.9%. The mechanical properties are impressive too, with tensile strength ranging from 760 to 1,022 MPa, yield strength around 920 MPa, and an elongation of about 15%. This combination results in strong, wear-resistant, and corrosion-resistant welds that can handle tough service conditions.
