AWS Class E347‑16 electrodes are specially designed niobium‑stabilized austenitic stainless steel stick welding rods, perfect for welding stabilized stainless steels like types 321 and 347. Thanks to their niobium content, they effectively prevent intergranular corrosion (also known as sensitization) during the welding process, making them a great choice for high-temperature and corrosive environments.
When it comes to typical weld metal composition, you can expect carbon levels to be between 0.04–0.08%, chromium at 18–21%, nickel ranging from 9–11%, and niobium at 8 times the carbon content, up to 1%. Additionally, manganese is found in amounts of 0.5–2.5%, silicon is capped at 0.9%, and molybdenum is limited to 0.75%. The mechanical properties of these electrodes are impressive, with tensile strength hovering around 520–594 MPa and elongation rates of about 30–34%, ensuring strong, durable, and corrosion-resistant welds.

These electrodes offer exceptional corrosion resistance, particularly against intergranular corrosion. Typically available in diameters of 1/16″ to 1/8″ (1.6 mm to 3.2 mm), they provide a lighter coating, facilitating easier welding with smooth, clean welds and minimal spatter.
Known for high corrosion resistance, especially in harsh environments, these electrodes come in diameters of 1/8″ to 5/32″ (3.2 mm to 4.0 mm). The heavy coating enhances arc stability and provides a thicker slag layer, offering better protection and ease of removal for cleaner welds.
These electrodes deliver superior corrosion resistance and are ideal for high-temperature applications. Typically available in diameters of 3/32″ to 1/8″ (2.4 mm to 3.2 mm), they are designed for shielded arc welding, ensuring stable arcs and good weld integrity in challenging conditions.
