AWS Class E330‑16 electrodes are specialized stick welding rods made from high-nickel, high-chromium austenitic stainless steel. They’re perfect for joining materials similar to Alloy 330 and are built to withstand tough conditions, offering excellent resistance to oxidation, scaling, and high temperatures.
The typical composition of the weld metal features carbon at 0.18–0.25%, chromium at 14–17%, nickel at 33–37%, manganese at 1–2.5%, and silicon up to 1%. This blend provides impressive creep strength and helps resist oxidation and scaling at temperatures reaching around 980 °C. When it comes to mechanical properties, you can expect a tensile strength of about 520–590 MPa and an elongation of 25–30%, which means these welds are strong and durable, even in high-temperature settings.
